The City of Mandurah is committed to financially supporting the initiatives and goals of young people.
Young people benefitting must be between the ages of 11 and 25 years and live in the City of Mandurah.
This fund is designed to support young people achieve something great. This may be to achieve a specific goal or dream or further develop a skill or talent.
The fund is open all year round, subject to funding availability.
Applications must be submitted at least 6 weeks prior to the event / activity / deadlines for needing funds. This allows time for the application to be assessed.
Who Can Apply?
Young people - aged 11 - 25 years can apply for up to $350 per person.
Families - If there is more than one young person applying from one family, the maximum amount per family is $500 in one financial year. Each person submits an individual application
Groups or organisations - can apply if they are providing a specific program or activity that supports the educational or developmental opportunities for young people aged 11 - 25 who live in Mandurah.
- Capped at $700 per organisation.
- Must demonstrate that two or more young people have been offered discounted fees to the program or project, and show the process for selection.
- If there is more than one individual application received from participants of a club or organisation, then that organisation needs to be the applicant.
- Will need to demonstrate how the organisation (where relevant) shows a commitment to the 10 National Principles for Child Safe Organisations.
We look for:
1) Applications that support young people in at least one of the following;
- Increase leadership, confidence or life skills.
- Access educational opportunities outside of usual school options.
- Increase ability to gain employment.
- Develop and / or deliver a project that makes a difference to the community / enhances Mandurah's vibrancy and culture.
- Sporting achievement that requires interstate or overseas travel, where funding isn’t available through other sources (check the City’s Outstanding Sporting Representative Donation Guidelines on our City of Mandurah Grants ).
2) Applications that are fully completed showing evidence of:
- What exactly you want the money for
- Clear outline of how it will benefit the young person and/or community.
- Itemised budget that show how the funds will be spent, with evidence of quotes that reflect the items listed.
What CAN be funded
- Registration or course fees
- Equipment
- Accommodation costs
- Training fees
What will NOT be funded
- Reimbursement of activities already held
- Applicants who have already been funded by the City within the same financial year.
- Costs already funded by another grant or service.
- Travel costs, entry fees, catering, insurance or conference attendance
- Prizes, gifts, trophies, medals or awards
- Sporting activities held within WA, or where funding is available for that purpose.
- Everyday living expenses including: drivers licence, vehicle running costs, fuel, rent, phone, electricity or groceries.
- Activities deemed to be of high risk.
